What’s the girls’ school advantage?

The Texas Girls School is a proud member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools. Check out this video to see what makes girls’ schools so transformative.

A hands-on STEM-focused middle school for girls?

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE

At The Texas Girls School, “hands-on” means curiosity in action. Our students dive deep through fieldwork, projects, and real-world problem-solving that connect Texas history, science, culture, and the natural world. Exploration is at the core of learning here—because discovery fuels confidence, and confidence fuels success.

Being STEM-focused means we use creativity and design-based thinking to solve meaningful challenges. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) isn’t just a set of subjects—it’s a mindset. Our girls explore how things work, why they matter, and how to make them better, preparing them for future careers in high-demand, high-impact fields.

And we are proudly Girls-Focused. Research shows that girls thrive in spaces where they can lead boldly, take risks, and express themselves freely. At TTGS, every girl is encouraged to explore her strengths, speak up, and envision herself as a leader in any field she chooses.

Fridays are where innovation meets joy. After our Women in STEM Speaker Series, students rotate through hands-on challenges that connect science, math, and creativity. They might design eco-habitats, code video games, or prototype community inventions. Flex Friday is all about bringing learning to life—testing ideas, making mistakes, improving, and celebrating progress.

A typical school day

School days like these make it easy for girls to get out of bed in the morning! Here’s what your daughter can expect.

Leadership

Leadership is the heart of our school. In this daily class, girls reflect, set goals, and design their future through guided self-discovery. They build confidence in their voice, learn teamwork and communication skills, and create their Graduate’s Journey Portfolio—a collection of dreams, achievements, and purposeful action. Together, they walk the TRAIL of success through trust, relationships, advancement, intentional growth, and liveliness.

We make math and science come alive through inquiry and exploration. Small class sizes and double math blocks give each student the support and challenge she needs to excel. From data analysis and algebraic modeling to lab experiments and engineering design, our girls learn to think critically, persevere, and see themselves as capable scientists and innovators.

Math & Science

In our double-blocked Humanities program, reading, writing, and history blend into one engaging story. Students explore powerful literature, uncover Texas and world history, and learn to communicate ideas that matter. Through essays, debates, and creative storytelling, girls find their voice, think deeply, and connect the past to the present—building empathy, perspective, and purpose along the way.

Art at TTGS is about imagination, innovation, and expression. Students explore painting, sculpture, digital design, and mixed media to bring ideas to life. Many projects connect with STEM themes—proving that creativity and engineering belong together. Our art program helps every girl discover her unique style and the confidence to express it.
